We are a 1920s inspired jazz ensemble, with a twist. Dressed in Prohibition Era garb, Dr. Daylight’s Jazz Co. breathes new life into Traditional jazz favorites and transforms "pop" songs into jazz standards.

    Meet the Company!

    Sarah Robinson

Sarah Robinson is a transplant from Green Bay WI who’s been singing jazz for over 10 years. Her most recent credits include performing in the Great American Songbook Celebration at the Manship Theater in Baton Rouge, the Pointe Coupee jazz brunch last April, and performances this summer across Lafayette with Dr. Daylight’a Jazz Co. Her favorite music to perform is 20-40s jazz repertoire, with ballad, bossa and risky scat solos among her fortes. She is thrilled to have found Dr. Daylight this summer, and can’t wait for what’s to come!

    Jake Spinella

Jake is from Montville, New Jersey. He is the author of "The History of the World According to Music: Part 1." Jake is an adjunct professor of Music at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He holds a Masters of Music degree from University of Louisiana at Lafayette and an Bachelor of Music Composition degree from Rowan University in New Jersey.

Jake's compositions and arrangements have been heard in Europe, North America, and South America. He has written original music for the stage, television, and film (Santa Jaws, Zombie Shark.) Dr. Daylight's first album features two of his compositions: "Second Line Snort" and "Boudoir Blues." His other original music can be found on Spotify and through other streaming services.

Jake has performed with Grammy winning artists such as Paquito D'Rivera, Dianne Schuur, The New York Voices, Irvin Mayfield, and has been a member of the Jimmy Dorsey Big Band. He also appears on Street Side Jazz Band's album, "Last Call!"

    Mark St. Cyr

Mark St. Cyr is a medical doctor and musician. He credits his time in school marching bands, attending church services and the music played in his New Orleans family home as his greatest influence. As a descendent of New Orleans jazz pioneer banjoist Johnny St. Cyr, Mark knew it was in his blood to become a great musician.

Mark has played many notable venues and events such as New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, French Quarter Festival, Preservation Hall, Smithsonian Museum of African American History (Washington D.C.) and more.

  • FAQ

Do you provide your own equipment?

Yes, when you book Dr. Daylight's Jazz Co., we will bring our instruments, sound equipment, and lights. For larger venues, we may ask the client to provide additional equipment. This can be discussed during the booking process.

What type of events do you perform?

We perform private events, corporate events, weddings, and festivals.

Do you always perform in 1920's attire?

No, that is up to the client. If we're a better fit in non-1920's attire, please let us know during the booking process.

Can I book just a portion of the band?

Yes. While we'd recommend booking the full group, for smaller events and venues we'll condense down to a quintet consisting of:

Vocals, Piano, Bass, Drums, and one horn.
